APPEL A MOBILISATION :

Après la très forte mobilisation du 24 mars dernier à Nantes, nous retournons dans cette ville avec le même objectif de maintenir la pression sur nos politiques. Nous y sommes arrivés ce mercredi au petit matin avec moutons et tracteurs et nous allons y rester un bon moment ! A grande bêtise politique, action forte : 2 paysans s'engagent dans une grève de la faim. Avec leur comité de soutien, ils sont installés devant le Monument de la Résistance, au Pont Morand à Nantes.

Leur acte de résistance et de solidarité est aussi un cri de colère envers l'obstination du monde politique à vouloir détruire et bétonner. Il a pour objectif d'obtenir, de la part de tou-te-s les candidat-e-s à l'élection présidentielle, un engagement pour l'abrogation de la Déclaration d'Utilité Publique du projet d'aéroport.

Cette action sera dure et longue : la mobilisation devra être forte !

Lors de la manifestation du 24 mars, nous avons appelé à résister ; c'est le moment de vous engager personnellement.

Venez passer une demi-journée, une journée, une nuit ou plus dès que possible devant la préfecture de Nantes pour que ce mouvement ait une résonance nationale.

Les échéances électorales arrivent et les ordonnances d'expropriation sont déjà dans les boîtes à lettres ! C'est maintenant qu'il faut agir !

Communiqué de presse des opposant-e-s au projet d'aéroport à Notre Dame des Landes :

Ce matin, mercredi 11 avril 2012, deux paysans ayant reçu l'ordonnance d'expropriation concernant le projet d'aéroport à Notre Dame des Landes(44), commencent une grève de la faim.

Avec leur comité de soutien, ils sont installés devant le Monument de la Résistance, au Pont Morand à Nantes.

De plus en plus de citoyen-ne-s dénoncent le gaspillage de terres agricoles pour des projets inutiles (l'aéroport de Notre Dame des Landes en est un !) et l'utilisation de fonds publics à des fins privées.

Le comité de soutien aux grévistes appelle la population à venir les soutenir par leur présence.

European Commission Publishes ‘Airport Package'

At the beginning of December the European Commission published an ‘Airport Package.' The proposals are intended to make airports more efficient so that more planes can use them. The Commission is worried that Europe will not have enough airport capacity. But there are some proposals about noise. The Commission wants more powers to try to make sure that there are fewer differences between the noise regulations in the different member states of the European Union. UECNA is disturbed that the Commission wants to replace the existing European Directive on airport noise with regulations. The regulations could make it for member states to introduce measures such as night flight bans which would protect residents. The European Union may make a decision in June. Airport Protests across Germany

On Saturday 24th March over 20,000 people took the streets in six cities in Germany to protest against the growth of aviation. Here are two videos which give a flavour of the protests. The first, (with a special message for people in London!) is of campaigners against a 3rd runway having a protest picnic in the terminal 2 of the airport: The second captures the thousands of people who protest inside the terminal of Frankfurt Airport every Monday evening. Since the 4th runway opened in October up to 5,000 protestors have occupied the terminal at Frankfurt to complain about the impact of the noise. Frankfurt Campaigners win Night Flight Ban

The campaigners at Frankfurt Airport have won a night flight ban after the German courts today (4th April) ruled in their favour. Flights will be banned from 11pm until 5am. It is thought the ruling could have implications for night flights at other European airports, particularly Charles de Gaulle and Schiphol which both have flights throughout the night. At Heathrow no night flights are allowed at Heathrow between 11.30pm and about 4.15am but the Government is under pressure to introduce a ban from 11pm until 6am. Frankfurt Campaigners win Night Flight Ban

“I suspect this ruling has brought a Heathrow night flight ban a step closer”

The campaigners at Frankfurt Airport have won a night flight ban after the German courts today ruled in their favour (1). Flights will be banned from 11pm until 5am. It is thought the ruling could have implications for night flights at other European airports. Both Charles de Gaulle and Schiphol airports, where flights operate through the night, have been watching the ruling closely.

The German decision could also influence the situation at Heathrow where the Government will begin consulting later this year on plans for a new night flight regime after the current agreement with the airlines runs out in 2014. At present, no night flights are allowed at Heathrow between 11.30pm and about 4.15am but the Government is under pressure to introduce a ban from 11pm until 6am.

John Stewart, Chair of HACAN, which represents residents under the Heathrow flight paths, said: “This is a very significant ruling which could have implications for airports across Europe, including Heathrow, Stansted and Gatwick. Critically, the German court rejected arguments by Lufthanza that its business would be damaged by a night flight ban. This is the same argument that has been made by BAA and British Airways to justify night flights at Heathrow. I suspect this ruling has brought a Heathrow night flight ban a step closer”.

The night ban at Frankfurt is only one of the demands of the German protesters, thousands of whom occupy the airport terminal every Monday night (2). They are objecting about the impact of the 4th runway which was opened in October. The night flight ban will apply to all the airport's runways.

Night flight ban in FRANCFORT

Dear All,

good news for all of us: front of the highest court at Germany, we fight against the new landing runway and Frankfurt Int. airport expansion.

Connected in this decision and compromise was a night flight ban between 23 – 5 (six hours only, but better than 55 flights per night)

The local government had jeopardized this compromise and allowed finally 17 flight between 23 – 5.

The court found out, that several legal steps had not been worked out well. The regional court of Hessen has to revise his decision of year 2009 again.

Now the good news:

The high court revised yesterday this regulations.

We will have the permanent right for a total night flight ban between 23 – 5h at Frankfurt. The temporary situation since Nov 2011 will continue.

And: the court will not allow 150 flights in the two hours 22-23h and 5 - 6h , the morning and late evening hours. The like to reduce the number of flights to 133 movements (= 150 minus 17 flights).

This Frankfurt decision will encourage you all at Paris, London and Amsterdam, but as well at Madrid, Barcelona and other airports of Europe.

Frankfurt will be the first big Hub having a night flight restrictions!
