Eurocontrol presents alarming figures

4.2% More flights in Europe during the first half of 2017 compared with the same period last year and that’s at the high end of the forecast. For July an increase of 5.2% is expected. Those figures come from Industry Monitor, the Eurocontrol bulletin on air transport trends.

Amsterdam Schiphol remains the busiest European airport in terms of flights during the first half of 2017 and shows a 5% growth rate. Paris Charles de Gaulle ranked second and passed Heathrow in the top three airports for flights.

The low-cost segment was the main driver of growth.
