Dutch MPs call for fewer night flights, some back total ban

Although night flights from Schiphol take place within the noise standards, in practice citizens are too often alerted by aircraft that fly over. So the number of these annoying flights must be greatly reduced.
That is the opinion of a majority of the House including government parties D66 and ChristenUnie, as revealed during a debate in the House of Representatives on April 25. Some are calling for a total ban, as in Frankfurt, London Heathrow and Charles de Gaulle in Paris. (DutchNews.nl)

According to Jan Paternotte (D66), Schiphol is completely out of step compared to other European airports when it comes to night flights. According to him, this often concerns holiday and cargo flights that fly between 11 p.m. and 6 p.m. (AD, national news paper – in Dutch).

These flights make little contribution to the hub function of the airport.
